For this installation, I construct two large maps, one of China and one of the United States. Each map is covered with a mirror. I position the U.S. map horizontally, high above the viewer. The map of China lies directly below on the floor. The two facing maps are connected by countless colorful threads around the contours, creating a vertically infinite visual space inside the work. A gap in the threading allows the viewer to enter the interior of the work. The visual effect fades the boundaries and the opposing relationship between the two countries.
